Supply Chain improvements will reduce costs in times of economic downturn
According to the BRW edition of Feb 5-11-2009, one of the ten important steps to take in times of a weak economy is to improve supply chain systems and increase inventory visibility. According to a Portfolio Manager, interviewed for the same article, "if a company takes more than 10 days after each month end to product management reports, they are not considered for investment." Because this indicates that the companies' Accounting and Reporting Systems are not sufficient to monitor and track the business.
In the same way, if a company has no Supply Chain System in place, then there will be insufficient information relating to the movement of inventory from the time of the creation and submission of the Purchase Order until the final delivery of products.
For his reason, Nortech has developed Gofar Connect, a supply chain visibility system that incorporates a unique system of connections, that link different Host system together, to produce a linked network of companies participating in the movement and warehousing of products. GoFar Connect links together, the retail head office to suppliers, stores, freight companies, couriers and factories.
Host systems that are currently linked to the GoFar network include ERP systems like: SAP, Microsoft Dymanics NAV, Netsuite, Quicken; Warehouse Management systems like Manhattan, SEQOS.
The GoFar Connect system is web based and uses the internet to create an international network of supply chain participants.
The messages that are sent via the GoFar Connect network comply with the internationally accepted GS1 standards and support a variety of technologies including EDIFACT, ANSI12 and XML. Gofar Connect supports EDI messaging
GoFar Connect has a unique feature that allows factories to connect to the network, to supply products from a basic PC and printer. The GoFar spooler running on this PC prints picking instructions and packing labels without any intervention required from the people working. This means that factories that have very basic computer skills or foreign language barriers can readily accepted into the supply chain.
GoFar Connct is ideally suited to :
- Retail companies with over 50 stores and suppliers in different countries
- Freight and Logistics companies
- Third Party Warehouse and Logistics operators
