How do I Install Real Estate Pro?
- Extract
the downloaded 'RealEstatePro.zip' file to a folder on your desktop
pc.
- Connect your CE device to your desktop PC.
-
Navigate to the 'REP' Folder you extracted in step 1.
- Run the “Setup.Exe” file in the REP folder.
Real
Estate Pro prompts you through the Visual CE installation process.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
At the
end of the installation Real Estate Pro will attempt to place the synchronized
database '.mdb' file on your hard drive at “c:\program files\visual
ce”. The MS Access file is named REPDb.mdb. After installation
first synchronization will take place.
(Synchronization
will only work if you have MS Access ODBC drivers installed on your
PC. Visit www.microsoft.com for more information on Microsoft Access
ODBC Drivers.)
- Navigate
to the 'REPReports' Folder (you extracted in step 1).
- Run the “Setup.Exe” file in the REPReports Folder.
Real
Estate Pro prompts you through the Reports CE installation process.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
CAUTION:
ABOUT THE INSTALLED FILES
THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM AUTOMATICALLY PLACES SEVERAL Real Estate Pro
APPLICATION FILES ON YOUR CE DEVICE. NEVER DELETE OR RENAME ANY FILES
LOCATED IN YOUR ROOT (/) FOLDER THAT ARE PREFIXED WITH A ‘REP’.
THESE ARE YOUR APPLICATION FILES.
3. After installing I get an error:
"Database Error" when trying to open a screen.
If
you see a message when launching a screen for the first time that says:
"Database Error", you must run
two files by manually selecting them from your ‘Pocket PC File
Explorer’ to resolve the initial synchronization issue.
Do
the following:
- On your
Handheld, use your ‘File Explorer’ to navigate to your root
folder.
- Double touch the file “REP[].vce” to launch it.
- Touch ‘Record-Close’ to exit.
- Double touch the other “REP[].vce” files to launch
them.
- Touch ‘Record-Close’ to exit.
- You are now ready to use Real Estate Pro.
NOTE:
Real Estate Pro creates one single property record and descriptions as an example.
You can delete the initial record by selecting ‘Record-Delete’
in the application on each screen.
If you
do not have a MS ODBC driver installed you may get an error message
during installation.
4. How do I delete the sample records?
Simply
delete by touching 'Record-Delete' on all screens.
Deleting
a record deletes everything cascading down from that record. For example:
If you delete a property then the associated descriptions, images,
interested buyer list and property details, will also be removed from your
system. However, if you delete from the interested buyer screen you will only
be deleting that particular link (and its associated records) but
not the total property record. etc..

Error appears saying
"C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT...."
?
I have
downloaded the Real Estate Pro v.5.0 software, when I try to install,
I get an error message saying:
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to
termiate the application.
I am running windows XP, is this why it will not work, and how should
I go about installing the software to use it on my Compaq ipaq
handheld?

Our
Response:
This is
a recent problem that is caused by upgrading to Windows XP SP2
(Service Pack 2). Apparently, in some Systems, during the SP2
installation important System files such as: AUTOEXEC.NT or CONFIG.NT
get deleted, causing various Applications to fail and yielding the
above errors.
The same issue has been reported to also happen after a virus attack
that is messing up people's System files and it is just running
rampant. In order to protect your System, please make sure that you
have the latest virus Definitions installed for your anti-virus
software program.
Please see the following from Microsoft's Knowledge Base regarding
your Windows error message:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767&Product=winxp
You may also try one of these two options:
Option1: Sometimes Windows may back up the file AUTOEXEC.NT in the
Windows/repair folder from its original folder of Windows/System32.
See if you have it there and if so, you may just copy it back to the
System32 folder and all should be good.
Option2: Send an email to
support@nortech.com.au , requesting the Windows 16 bit system
files called Autoexec.nt and config.nt. These files will be sent to
you by
attached email. Paste these attached files to your windows system folder found
at c:Windows\System32\ .
